This is my translations activities page. In this page you can find all my activities I have achieved during the last forty years of academic teaching and research at Salahaddin University-Erbil, Kurdistan Region-Iraq. Also my activities in the field of literature through translations of short stories and novels written in English language into Kurdish language and vice versa. The stories, novels and tales are:

My Story چیرۆکی ژیانم

I am assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Azeez Saeed. I was born in the city of Qaladze/ Sulaimani on 27th, September 1953. I am married and has two daughters and three grandchildren.

 I have followed the footsteps of my family by entering the school and continued until I received the B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. I have joined Salahaddin University-Erbil in November 15th, 1977. Continued to work in the Department of Physics for the period of one year, when I travelled to the United Kingdom for postgraduate studies at the University of Birmingham and on December 1980, I have been awarded M.Sc. degree in the field of Meteorology and Applied Climatology.   On August 2001, I completed my Ph.D. study in Astronomy at the University of Baghdad-Iraq.

In addition to the teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate students and researching in the fields of Physics, Atmospheric Science and Astronomy, I served as Physics Department decider, supervisor of the warehouse, head of scientific section and deputy Dean of the College of Science –Salahaddin University-Erbil for the period of over 25 years.

From August 2008 up to date , I have started working on academic and scientific administrations at the Ministry of higher education and scientific research, Kurdistan Region and at Salahaddin University-Erbil.

Currently I am Erasmus+ Institutional Coordinator at Salahaddin University-Erbil. I am running the Erasmus+ projects awarded by the European Union  to Salahaddin University-Erbil and actively participating in the implementation processes of them.

The Black Snow....A novel بەفری ڕەش....ڕۆمان 

The Kurds are a nation of over forty millions population; they live on their own homeland, Kurdistan, divided among Iraq, Iran, Syria and Turkey. Before the era of Alexander the great (Alexander with the two corns), they lived on Erbil Citadel, possibly the oldest continuously occupied human settlement on Earth, dating back at least 6,000 years, now it is the Capital of Kurdistan Region.

The black snow is a novel based on a true story, written by the novelist, Helen Palany, in Erbil. This novel has been classified as a Kurdish modern literature, emerged from a Kurdish drama tragedy. The story events were took place in the nineties of the last century in Erbil and its countryside. The aim of the translation of this novel from original language (Kurdish) into English language is to tell the international community that, we are Kurds exist, we have history, we have literature and we have novels, equitable to those of the other nations , if not more…………….…...Mohammed Azeez Saeed, January 2023.

بەفری ڕەش ڕۆمانێکی کوردیە خاتوو هێلین عبدالجبار پاڵانی لە هەولێر نووسیویەتى. ئەو ڕۆمانە لەسەر چیرۆکێکی ڕاستەقینە دارێژراوە. ئەو ڕۆمانە پۆلێنکراوە وەکوو ئەدەبی کوردی مۆدێرن، لە  تراژیدیایەکی درامای کوردیەوە هەڵقوڵاوە. ڕووداوەکانى چیرۆکەکە لە نەوەتەکانى سەدەى ڕابووردوو لە هەولێر و دەوروبەری بووە. بەگرنگم زانی وەریگێرم بۆ زمانى ئینگلیزی بۆ ئەوەى بە خوێنەرانی کۆمەڵگای نێو دەوڵەتى بڵێم ئێمەی کورد هەین، مێژوومان هەیە، ئەدەبمان هەیە، ڕۆمانمان هەیە، هاوتایە لە گەڵ ڕۆمان و ئەدەبى گەلانی جیهان.... ئەگەر زیاتریش نەبێت.

Short Stories of Edgar Allan Poe in Kurdish
کورتە چیرۆکەکانى ئێدگار ئالان پۆ

Edgar Allan Poe was an American writer, poet, editor, and literary critic. Poe is best known for his poetry and short stories, particularly his tales of mystery and the macabre. He is widely regarded as a central figure of Romanticism in the United States, and of American literature.

Poe was one of the country's earliest practitioners of the short story, and considered to be the inventor of the detective fiction  genre, as well as a significant contributor to the emerging genre of science fiction. Poe is the first well-known American writer to earn a living through writing alone, resulting in a financially difficult life and career.

Due to the importance of Poe’s short stories, I have translated five oh his short stores into Kurdish language. They are:

ئەو وەرگێڕانە بریتین لە پێنج کورتە چیرۆکى ئەمەریکى، نوسەر و شاعیر و ڕەخنەگری ئەدەبی ئەمەریکى ئێدگار ئالان پۆ نوسیونی. نوسەر بە ناڕون تۆقێنەر ناویکردوە. نوسەر لە ١٩/١/١٨٠٩ لە بۆستن - ئەمەریکا لە دایکبووە.لە ٧/١٠/١٨٤٩ لە تەمەنی چل ساڵیدا لە ماریلاند – ئەمەریکا کۆچی دوایی کردوە.

The Broken Wings...Gibran Khalil Gibran
باڵە تێکشکاوەکان....جبران خلیل جبران

Gibran Khalil Gibran, usually referred to in English as Kahlil Gibran, was a Lebanese-American writer, poet and visual artist, also considered a philosopher although he himself rejected the title.

Born: January 6, 1883, Bsharri, Lebanon

Died: April 10, 1931, St. Vincent’s Hospital, USA

Nationality: Lebanese

In 1912 he wrote the most famous novel titled The Broken Wings. Here is the translation of this novel into Kurdish language.

باڵە تێکشکاوەکان ڕۆمانێکە شاعیر و ڕۆماننووسى ئەمەریکى بەڕەچەڵەک لوبنانى جبران خەلیل جبران لە ساڵى ١٩١٢ نووسیویەتى و بڵاوى کردۆتەوە. نووسەر لە ٦ى کانونى دووەمى ١٨٨٣ لە باکوورى لوبنان لە بنەماڵەیەکى هەژار لەدایک بووە، ناسراوە بە شاعیر و نووسەرى تاراوگە(کۆج ڕەو) و لە ١٠ى نیسانى ١٩٣١ لەتەمەنى ٤٨ ساڵى بەنەخۆشى سیل لە نیویۆڕک کۆچى دوایی کردوە و لەسەر داواى خۆى تەرمەکەى لە بێروت بەخاک سپێردراوە.

ئەو ڕۆمانەم لە دەقى ئینگلیزیەکەیەوە وەرگێڕاوەتە سەر زمانى کوردى، هیوادارم سودبەخش بێت.

 By the waters of babylon لەکەنارى ئاوەکانى بابیلۆن 

By the waters of Babylon is one of the greatest American short stories. This short story was written by Stephen Vincent Benet and for the first time, the story was published on July 31st, 1937. Stephen Vincent Benet was a writer, poet and a novelist. He was born on July 22nd, 1895 in Pennsylvania, USA. Died on March 13th, 1943 at the age of 44. The writer wrote this short story as a reaction to the bombardment of the city Guernica in Basque Region-Spain, during the civil war on April 26th, 1937. On the same year Pablo Picasso paint his famous anti-war paint of the event. Because of the importance of the event of the short story, I have translated it into Kurdish language and the reader can read it here and enjoy it.

بەمەبەستى گەیاندنى مەعریفەت و ڕۆشنبیری ئەدەبی میللەتان بەئارەزوومەندانى گەلەکەم ( گەلی کوردوستان) بیست و دوو کورتە چیرۆکى ئەمەریکى و ئینگلیزی و ڕووسی وەرگێڕاون بۆ سەر زمانە پاراوەکەمان ( زمانى کوردی). شازدە لەو کورتە چیرۆکانە لەماوەى قەدەغەی هاتووچۆ، بەهۆی بڵاوبوونەوەى پەتای ڤایرۆسی کۆڕۆنا لە هەولێر، سودم لەکات وەرگرت لە ٢٤/٢/٢٠٢٠ تاوەکوو ١٥/٤/٢٠٢٠ وەرمگێڕاون و لێرەدا پێشکەش بە خوێنەرانى دەکەم.

ناونیشانی کتێبەکەم ( لەکەناری ئاوەکانی بابیلۆن) لە کورتە چیرۆکی ئەمەریکى، ستیڤن ڤینسنت بەنیت نوسیویەتى وەرگرتووە.

To build a fire is one of the greatest American short stories, written by Jack London. Jack Griffith London was an American novelist, journalist, and social activist. A pioneer in the world of commercial magazine fiction, he was one of the first writers to become a worldwide celebrity and earn a large fortune from writing.

Born: January 12, 1876, San Francisco, California-USA.

Died: November 22, 1916, Glen Ellen, California-USA.

I translated this novel into Kurdish language to benefit the Kurdish readers all over the world.

ئەدەبی ئەمەریکى، ئاگرێک بکەیتەوە کورتە چیرۆکێکى ئەمەریکیە و جاک گریفس لندن نوسیویەتى. نوسەر ڕۆمان نووس و ڕۆژنامەنوس و چالاکوانى کۆمەڵایەتى ئەمەریکی بوو.

 لە ١٢/١/١٨٧٦ لە سانفرانسیسکۆ/ کالیفۆرنیا- ئەمەریکا لە دایکبووە و لە ٢٢/١١/١٩١٦ لە کلین ئالین/ کالیفۆڕنیا- ئەمەریکا لەتەمەنی چل ساڵیدا کۆچی دوایی کردووە. نوسەر ئەو چیرۆکەی لە ساڵی ١٩٠٢ وە ١٩٠٨ بە چاپ گەیاندووە. هیوادارم خوێنەری کورد ئەو وەرگێڕانەى بە دڵ بێت

A Man of the World  پیاوى جیهان  

A man of the world is one of the greatest American short stories. Ernest Miller Hemingway wrote it. Hemingway was a story and novel writer, born on July 21st, 1899 at Illinois state-USA. On July 2nd, 1961 at the age of 62 at Idaho-USA, attempted suicide. He is the 1954 Nobel Prize winner. I have translated this short story into Kurdish language, and I hope you enjoy reading it.

پیاوی جیهان کورتە چیرۆکێکى ئەمەریکیە نوسەری ئەمەریکى ئێرنیست میللەر هەمەنگوای نوسیویەتى. چیرۆکەکە باس لە پیاوێکی کوێر دەکات کە بێ ماڵ و حاڵ بووە. بەردەوام لە ساڵۆنەکان خەریکى قوومارکردن بووە لە سەر ئامێرەکانی یاری قوومار. ئەم پیاوە هەستى بۆنکردنی باش نەبووە و حەزی نەکردووە بە ناوی ڕاستەقینەی خۆی (بلاکی) ناو ببرێ بەڵکو حەزی لە نازناوی '' کوێرە'' بووە کە لە ئەنجامی شەڕکردن لەگەڵ یەکێک لە برادەرەکانی کۆر بووە. کوێرە نیشانەى پیاوەتی و مرۆڤێکی مەزن بووە و ئیلهامی چیرۆک نووسی بە نووسەر بەخشیوە. ناوی چیرۆکەکە'' پیاوی جیهان'' ووتەیەکە لە ئەدەبی ئینگلیزی بۆ پیاوێکی مەزن و ڕەسەن و ئازا و لە خۆ بووردوور بە کار دەهێنرێ. هیوادارم خوێنەری کورد چێژ لە وەرگێڕانە وەربگرێ

Robinson Crusoe-A Novel  ڕۆبنسن کرۆسۆ...ڕۆمان

Daniel Defoe was an English writer, trader, journalist, pamphleteer and spy. He is most famous for his novel Robinson Crusoe, published in 1719, which is claimed to be second only to the Bible in its number of translations.

The darkness of the night is an American short story written by Robert Myron Coates. He was an American novelist, short story writer and art critic. He published five novels; one classic historical work.

Born: April 6, 1897, New Haven, Connecticut-USA.

Died: February 8, 1973 (aged 75), New York-USA.

An honest thief is a Russian short story written by Fyodor Mikhaylovich Dostoyevsky in the year 1848. He was a Russian novelist, story writer, journalist and a philosopher.

Died: February 9th, 1881, Saint Peters Burg-Russia.

The Song of Finch  گۆرانى چۆلەکە

The song of finch is a Kurdish tale, and it has been told generation after generation. It is mainly told the children during night sleeping times. It has been considered as children literature, and as international children literature. I translated this tale from original Kurdish language into English language, and Alexandre Gonclaves from University of Lisbon, Portugal translated it into Portuguese language. Miss. Giulia Roncella from UNIMED, Rome-Italy translated it to Italian & French. This tale is dedicated to the children of the world, especially those children who do not have anybody to tell night sleeping tales.

گۆرانی چۆلەکە حیکایەتێکى کوردیە، نەوە لە دوای نەوە گێراویانەتەوە. تایبەتە بە حیکایەتى منداڵان، دەخوێندرێتەوە لە کاتی خەوتنی منداڵان.  حیکایەتی گۆرانی  چۆلەکە بە ئەدەبی منداڵان دانراوە وەکوو ئەدەبى جیهانى منداڵان ناسێندراوە. لێرەدا ئەو حیکایەتەم لەزمانی ڕەسەنی کوردیەوە وەرگێڕاوەتە سەر زمانی ئینگلیزى  و پورتوگالی و ئیتالی و فەڕەنسی وەکوو دیارییەک لە منداڵانى کوردوستانەوە بۆ منداڵانى هەموو جیهان، بە تایبەت ئەومنداڵانەى کەسیان نیە شەوانە حیکایەتى خەوتنیان بۆ بخوێنێتەوە. بە هیواى سەلامەتى و گەشەکردننى منداڵان لە سەر بنەمایەکی دروست

The Hare & The Tortoise کەروێشک و کیسەڵ 

The hare and the tortoise is a historical story tale . The story tells that a tortoise who, ridiculed by the hare for being slow, challenges it to a race. The hare soon leaves the tortoise behind and, confident of winning, takes a nap midway.

Upon awakening, he finds that his competitor, crawling slowly but steadily, has arrived before him. It is thus, that at the moment of challenge and encounter, power was transferred and, an apparently predetermined outcome was inversed

 - Strength became weakness,

- Weakness transformed into strength,

A derided attribute, when coupled with steadfastness, produced a win.

 

کەروێشک و کیسەڵ حیکایەتێکی مێژوویی کۆنە لەناو هەموو گەلانی جیهان بڵاو بۆتەوە. ناسراوە بە حیکایەتی منداڵان و لە ناو ئەدەبی جیهانی منداڵان پۆلین کراوە. لێرە دا لە بەر گرنگی حیکایەتەکە ،  دەقی ئینگلیزیەکەیم وەرگرتووە و وەرم گێڕاوەتە سەر زمانی کوردی و دەقی ئینگلیزیەکەشم لە گەڵیدا داناوە بە شێوەیەک ئەوانەی ئارەزووی فێر بوونی زمانی ئینگلیزیان هەیە سووددی لێ وەردەگرن. بە هیوای کاتێکی خۆش.

Christ in the Sky of Paris  مەسیح بە ئاسمانی پاریسەوە

Christ in the sky of Paris is a Kurdish short story written by the Kurdish writer Hemefariq Hassan in Sulamane on November 19th, 2019. The events of the story took place in the city of Paris, France. This short story based on a true story. On March 11th, 2023, I translated it into English and I hope the reader enjoy it.

مەسیح بە ئاسمانی پاریسەوە کورتە چیرۆکێکی کوردیە  چیرۆکنووس محمەد فەریق حەسەن لە ١٩ی ١١ی ٢٠١٩ لە سلێمانی نوسیویەتی. ڕوداوەکانی ئەو کورتە جیرۆکە لە شاری پاریس پایتەختی فەرەنسا ڕویداوە و کورتەچیرۆکەکە لەسەر چیرۆکێکی راستەقینە بیناکراوە. منیش لە ١١ی ئاداری ٢٠٢٣ لە کوردیەوە وەرمگێڕایە سەر زمانی ئینگلیزی و هیوادارم خوێنەر سوود و چێژی لێوەربگرێ.

Three Thousand Kisses سێ هەزار ماچ

Three thousand kisses is a Kurdish short story, on June 24th, 2022 , the Kurdish story writer, Hemefariq Hassan wrote it in Sulaimane, Kurdistan Region-Iraq. On March 12th, 2023, I translated it from Kurdish into English  I hope you like it.

سێ هەزار ماچ کورتە چیرۆکێکی کوردیە، محەمەد فەریق حەسەن لە ٢٤/٦/٢٠٢٢ لە سلێمانی نوسیویەتی و منیش لە ١٢ی ئاداری ٢٠٢٣ وەرمگێڕایە سەر زمانی ئینگلیزی. هیوادارم سوود بەخش بێت

The colored kite is a Kurdish short story, on January 3rd, 2021, the Kurdish story writer, Hemefariq Hassan wrote it in Copenhagen, Denmark. On March 17th, 2023, I translated it from Kurdish into English, I hope you like it and enjoy reading.

Three Thousand Kisses-Mixed  سێ هەزار ماچ - تێکەڵ

Three Thousand Kisses are three Kurdish short stories “Three Thousand Kisses, The Colored Kite, and Christ in the Sky of Paris”. The Kurdish Writer Mr. Mohammed Fariq Hassan (Hemefariq Hassan) wrote them. The three short stories we emerged from true events, inspired the writer.

Due to the importance of the stories, and to enrich the Kurdish library by learning language resources, and to tell the international community that we are the Kurds, exist, and like all other nations of the world, we have the history, literature, stories and novels,. In addition, in order to provide the Kurdish young generation with suitable English learning resources, I have translated them from Kurdish language into English language, in the period March 11th to march 21st, 2023. And published them mixed, paragraph after paragraph. Hope you enjoy it….

سێ هەزار ماچ سێ کورتەچیرۆکی کوردییە" سێ هەزار ماچ، کۆلارەی ڕەنگاوڕەنگ، مەسیح بە ئاسمانی پاریسەوە". نووسەری کورد ڕێزدار محەمەد فەریق حەسەن ( حەمەفەریق حەسەن) نوسیوونی. هەر سێ کورتە چیرۆکەکە لە ڕووداوی ڕاستەقینەوە سەریان هەڵداوە و ئیلهامیان بە نووسەر بەخشوە.

لە بەر گرنگی چیرۆکەکان و بە هیوای دەوڵەمەند کردنی کتێبخانەی کوردی بە سەرچاوەی فێربوونی زمانی ئینگلیزی  بۆ لاواوەکانمان و شارەزابوون لە شێوازی وەرگێران، و بە کۆمەڵگای نێو دەوڵەتی بڵێین ئێمەی کورد لێرەین، وەکوو هەموو گەلانی دونیا، مێژوومان هەیە، ئەدەبمان هەیە، چیرۆک و ڕۆمانمان هەیە. لە نێوان ١١/٣/٢٠٢٣ تاوەکوو ٢١/٣/٢٠٢٣ هەرسێ کورتە چیرۆکەکەمان وەرگێڕاوەتە سەر زمانی ئینگلیزی، بە تێکەڵ کوردی و ئینگلیزی نوسیومانە. هیوادارین لاوەکانمان سوودی لێ وەربگرن و کەلێنێکی کتێبخانەی کوردیمان پڕ کردبێتەوە. ئارەزوومەندان دەتوانن لە ماڵپەڕی تایبەت بە وەرگێر بیانخوێننەوە.بە هیوای کاتێکی خۆش....
